Conservation: Poecilia catemaconis is not evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species. Poecilia catemaconis is commercially exploited by fishermen in Lake Catemaco (Miller, 1975:18), and although the limited distribution of this species, its resilience is sufficiently high to maintain a stable population.
