Conservation: Hybopsis boucardi is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (EN) endangered (2018). Hybopsis boucardi may be restricted to the Cuernavaca area, where water extraction and stream pollution have both led to serious problems for the aquatic fauna (Schönhuth et al., 2006:10). H. boucardi is additionally threatened by the introduction of exotic species, mainly rainbow tout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) (Contreras-MacBeath, 2019).
