保育: Hybopsis cumingii 被評鑑為國際自然保育聯盟瀕危物種紅皮書名單中的 (NT) 近危 (2018). Hybopsis cumingii is endemic to the Atoyac River. Atoyac River is heavily polluted by industries and urban areas lacking sewage treatment facilities in several municipalities of Oaxaca, Tlaxcala, and Puebla. Harmful chemical and organic substances have been identified in the river water which has become a source of infection for diseases such as hepatitis, cancer, and cholera. A massive fish death was reported from the Atoyac River in 2017. Thus, it is inferred that the species population size is experiencing a reduction given the continuing decline of its habitat quality (Vega-Cendejas & Gonzales, 2019).
